Welcome to Morin Music studio, where we value your commitment to musical excellence. To ensure a harmonious learning environment, please take note of our studio policies:

General Policies:

Morin Music Studio is dedicated to fostering a positive, structured, and inclusive environment, enabling students of all ages and abilities to realize their full potential in music.

  • Regular practice, consistent attendance, and thorough preparation are expected and required of all students.
  • We uphold a standard of formal music education, emphasizing the importance of discipline and dedication in the musical journey.
  • Morin Music Studio prides itself on being an inclusive environment, welcoming students of all backgrounds, abilities, and ages.
  • We reserve the right to accept or withdraw students at our discretion, ensuring decisions are made based on a student’s engagement and preparation for lessons.
  • This approach emphasizes fairness and equal opportunity, maintaining an optimal educational environment where passion for music and dedication to learning are paramount.
  • We aim to assist children in acquiring self-discipline through firm, clear guidelines, encouraging them to take increasing responsibility for their learning outcomes.

Our Code of Conduct intends:

  • To ensure every student experiences a welcoming, caring, respectful, and safe learning environment.
  • To work in partnership with parents, supporting the growth and goals of students.
  • To deliver professional instruction that respects the inherent dignity of all individuals.
  • Diligence in Practice: Students are expected to be diligent in their home practice and dedicated to their studies.
  • Attendance and Punctuality: Regular and punctual attendance at lessons is crucial. Students must remain engaged throughout their lessons.
  • Cooperation with Instructors: Full cooperation with instructors is essential. Students are expected to embrace the educational programs and instructions provided.
  • Formal music lessons are a collaborative process that involve support and engagement from parents, students and teachers. 
  • Students are expected to actively attend lessons and be punctual for their lessons.
  • Parents are expected to be engaged in the learning process and are invited to sit and observe any lessons in order to provide ample support for home practice. 
  • Parents who choose not to observe and sit outside of the lesson should be available for discussions on progress and updates.
  • Students are not to be left unattended in the lobby. Parents and guardians are responsible for their child in the waiting area at all times outside of their private lesson. 

Registration Policies:

Enrollment is conducted for the full academic school year, contingent on the schedule and availability of our instructors. We offer trial lessons upon request for families interested in meeting our instructors before committing to a full program. Please note that we do not offer drop-in lessons.

While we strive to match students with their preferred instructors, placement is not guaranteed. Our instructors may recommend an alternate instructor if they believe it would better suit the student’s learning style and goals. This approach ensures a positive and productive learning environment tailored to each student’s needs.

Placement in lessons can occur at any point throughout the school year, with students committing to private lessons until the end of the academic year, or to group programs until the end of the term, as applicable. All lessons and programs are designed as part of an educational curriculum and are intended to provide continuity and foster growth in the student’s learning.

Private Lesson Withdrawals: If circumstances change, students are required to provide a minimum of 8 weeks’ notice when withdrawing from private lessons. A $50 administrative fee will be applied to all early withdrawals from private programming.

Group Lesson Withdrawals: A full refund will be granted if a withdrawal notice is received at least 14 days prior to the start of lessons. Once lessons have commenced, no refunds will be issued.

Student Absence Policy:

  • In the event of a student's class or private lesson absence, the instructor is not obligated to provide a makeup session and the lesson is considered a missed lesson
  • Lesson time is transferable to an immediate family member. Additionally, with a 24-hour advance notice, we offer the option of an online lesson.
  • Should a student notify their teacher of their absence with reasonable notice, the teacher may explore arranging a makeup, depending on the availability of studio space and instructors. This is offered on a volunteer basis.

Group Programs:

Make-up Classes:

  • Crescendo Kids students missing scheduled lessons have the opportunity to join another class, contingent upon class size and availability.

Sick Policy

  • As with all programs, Crescendo Kids Students are kindly requested to stay home when feeling unwell in order to keep our young students healthy.

  • Students enrolled in any and all programs are kindly requested to stay home when feeling unwell.
  • Private lessons, when given enough notice, can seamlessly transition to an online format. Teachers must receive minimum 24 hours notice in order to have advanced notice to bring teaching devices to their lessons.
  • Similar to our general makeup policy, in the case of a student's illness-related absence, students have the option to transfer their designated lesson time to an immediate family member to attend in their place. The lesson can also be attended in an online format, with 24 hours' notice to their teacher. Any offer of a makeup lesson is done solely at the teacher's discretion, subject to studio space and instructor availability.

Summer Lessons:

  • All lessons must be completed in the month of July and August
  • Summer lessons can be scheduled based on preference and availability at the time of registration in order to accommodate flexible scheduling and holidays.
  • Once the schedule has been assigned, the standard student-absence and make-up policy applies. Further rescheduled lessons are at the discretion of your instructor.
  • Summer lesson packages are entitled to a full refund less $50 administrative fee can be provided if a withdrawal notice is provided no later than June 15th.
