It is our great pleasure to announce that Soprano, Alyssa Durnie will be joining our faculty this upcoming school year!
An accomplished emerging artist, she holds her Diploma in Operatic Performance at the University of Toronto under the tutelage of Wendy Nielsen, as well as her Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Lethbridge where she studied under Dr. Blaine Hendsbee.
Ms. Durnie represented Alberta at the National Music Festival where she placed first in the voice category and has also attended the prestigious program Opera NUOVA, St. Andrews Opera Workshop, and The Center of Operatic Studies in Italy.
Ms. Durnie was the proud recipient of the Lethbridge Kiwanis Festival Rose Bowl in both 2015 and 2016 and she looks forward to sharing her love of vocal music with her students of all ages and backgrounds at Morin Music Studio in the upcoming school year.
Most recently Ms. Durnie has been seen with the University of Toronto Opera in the roles of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Elena in the new work Vengence, and as Martha in Gershwin’s Of Thee I Sing. Past seasons she include Diane in Offenbach’s Orphee aux Enfers, Opera Fan in the new work Prima Zombie, and Clomiri in Handel’s Imeneo. Other credits include Chorus in La Boheme (Against the Grain), Gianetta in The Gondoliers (Opera NUOVA), title role in Suor Angelica (University of Lethbridge Opera Workshop), Gretel in Hansel and Gretel (Lethbridge Symphony), Musetta (Act II) (Lethbridge Symphony), and Barbarina in The Marriage of Figaro (Lethbridge Symphony).
Ms. Durnie enjoys teaching all genres of music from musical theatre to opera and everything between for her students of all levels and ages, and is now accepting students for both in-home and in-studio lessons in the upcoming school year.
